I imagine smacking gums.
Squish,
Smack,
Blow,
I see how the jaw articulates as the mouth fills with an unnecessary amount of saliva. A perfectly smooth pink bubble emerges from full luscious lips. I like to pretend its double bubble she’s smacking. My vision is consumed by the image of a bright pink, blue, and yellow wrapper. Squish, smack, blow… POP.
In purity culture, the image of chewing gum is often used as a metaphor for a woman’s sexuality. The gum represents the body, and once it has been "chewed" or used, it is considered no longer desirable or pure. This metaphor reflects the belief that women’s value is tied to their sexual purity, and once that purity is lost, it cannot be restored. The idea is that, like gum that has been chewed, a woman's body becomes "used" and less valuable in the eyes of others. This imagery reinforces the cultural emphasis on women maintaining their sexual purity and the shame associated with sexual experience outside of marriage.
