Capstone project
Venue TBD
Tuscaloosa, AL
My research explores how fundamentalist Christian teachings, particularly purity culture, shape the relationship individuals, especially women, have with their bodies. Focusing on the intersection of religious doctrine and dance, I investigate how purity culture’s teachings of submission and control impact one's embodied experience. Through movement exploration and personal reflection, I examine how dance can provide a space for reclaiming agency, resisting restrictive teachings, and redefining the body as a site of autonomy and self-expression.
Pussy
Dance Film
This film explores misogyny through a satirical lens, drawing parallels between my house cats and the way women are treated. It began with a simple idea: people who hate cats are misogynists. The film moves between humor and critique, touching on how misogyny is both socially enforced and internally absorbed.
